GRIPEN DISPLAYED AT THE AIRSHOW IN GRAZ

In connection with the procurement of new fighter aircraft by the
Austrian Federal Government a presentation by the Austrian Army is being
held today, 14 May 2002, at the Graz / Thalerhof Airport in Austria.

The event provides information about the requirements of airspace
surveillance in general and offers a unique opportunity to have a first-
hand look at Gripen that is one of the candidates in the selection
process for the new acquisition.

For this occasion, a Gripen - which Gripen International is offering to
Austria as a potential Draken successor - is being specially flown to
Graz.
***
Gripen was designed to meet the demands of all current and future
threats, while at the
same time meeting strict peace-time requirements for flight safety,
reliability, training efficiency and low operating costs.

Gripen International is a company in which Saab AB of Sweden and the
United Kingdom's BAE SYSTEMS have equal shares.

Gripen is already in service with the Swedish Air Force, which has
ordered 204 aircraft (including 28 two-seaters). In addition to South
Africa (28 aircraft) the Air Forces of Hungary and Czech Republic have
selected Gripen.
