For operations under threat from mines, it is vital to know the signature level of naval vessels. MGS-900 is a measurement system for simultaneously measuring and analysing all signatures used in mine warfare. Results and reports form the basis for tuning a ship’s degaussing system. Periodic measurements and fine tuning safeguard operations and allow the opportunity to take initiative when under threat from mines.
In the currently available configurations, the magnetic, electric, pressure and hydroacoustic signatures are measured. The MGS-900 consists of land-based data processing equipment, ship tracking equipment and several sensor units organised in an array on the seabed. The sensor array and the shore equipment are connected to each other using an underwater data bus.
