Why did you apply to the graduate programme?

I had a very keen personal interest in military technology areas and self-studied in related fields for more than 10 years. When I learned about Saab, I was compelled by its innovative technologies and, more importantly, the Swedish mindset of being independent and transparent for national defense which I believe is not common for other companies in the rest of the world.

What is it like to be a graduate at Saab?

Being a graduate at Saab is definitely a unique experience. For starters, it is an amazing networking experience. People are very excited and enthusiastic to meet you and help you.  In fact, there were a few times where someone in the company, who I’ve never met in person, recognized me. You have a lot of support and people are more than willing to help you throughout your graduate journey – all you need to do is ask.

What have you gained from participating in the graduate programme?

The true meaning of being global. As you would notice from the basic structure of the programme, graduates are encouraged, and even expected, to visit various Saab locations all over the world throughout the graduate year. Through such a dramatic and rapid change of working environment, I learned that the true meaning of being global when it comes to our careers is to maintain consistent work performance, regardless of wherever you are located.

To whom would you recommend the programme?

Before we even talk about the programme, I believe that you should research Saab and understand what we do and are about. I believe it is very important that you like Saab as a company, and the defense industry, since you are - after all - a Saab employee. There is no point in this programme if you do not like what you are working for. If you are indeed interested in this field, believe in the company vision and would like to get hands-on global experiences, then I believe you are a perfect match for this programme.

What has been the most memorable experience so far?

Every moment of the team weeks. During the team weeks, you spend time with the rest of the graduates. Through overcoming the challenges of the programme together, you form a very strong bond with the other graduates and develop strong professional relationships, but more importantly close personal friendships. It is really great to have people who have been through the same experience as you and that you can really relate to.
