  • Saab Inaugurates New Development Centre in Finland

    Defence and security company Saab is expanding its activities in Finland having established a new development centre – the Saab Technology Centre (STC) – in Tampere, Finland.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab will take part in an EU funded preparatory action project called OCEAN2020. The project will demonstrate technologies for enhanced situational awareness in a naval environment using unmanned systems.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab will demonstrate its anti-submarine warfare (ASW) training system, the AUV62-AT, for the U.S. Navy (USN). The AUV62-AT is an artificial acoustic system that mimics a submarine.

    company Saab has received an order from the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment,
    Information Technology and In-Service Support, BAAINBw, for
    upgrade of the German Army’s vehicle simulators. The total order value is SEK 107 million. The upgrade programme will
    commence in 2018.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract for production and deliveries of Saab´s New Lightweight Torpedo to the Finnish Navy. The contract signed is part of the Squadron 2000 Mid-Life Upgrade Programme (SQ2000 MLU) of the Finnish Navy´s four Hamina fast attack crafts (FAC) as described in separate Saab press release.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab has been contracted by Patria as one of the major suppliers across the Finnish Navy Squadron 2000 Mid-Life Upgrade programme. Patria has the prime role for the total programme, which includes refurbishment and upgrade of four Hamina-class fast attack crafts. Saab’s order value amounts to approximately SEK 960 million with deliveries starting from 2018.

  • Defence and security company Saab has introduced the Sea Giraffe 4A Fixed Face (FF), a fixed-panel configuration of Saab’s existing and delivered active electrically scanned array, AESA, radar family.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab has received an order for support of algorithm development and evaluation for airborne AESA fighter radar. The radar development programme is led by the Korean Agency for Defence Development (ADD) and Saab will work in cooperation with ADD and its contractual partner LIG Nex1. The order value is MSEK 125.

     
  • Defence and security company Saab has acquired the company Applied Composites AB (ACAB), based in Linköping, Sweden, from GKN Aerospace. The acquisition will guarantee key technologies for the development of future ground combat weapon systems and advanced radomes.  

     
  • Saab Acquires Dockstavarvet shipyard

    Defence and security company Saab acquires the Swedish combat boat producer N. Sundin Dockstavarvet AB and the repair shipyard Muskövarvet AB, in order to strengthen Saab’s product offering in the naval domain. The acquisition of the companies will become effective at 29 December 2017.

     
  • Saab Receives Order from KMW for Mobile Camouflage Systems

    Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH (KMW) for deliveries of Mobile Camouflage Systems (MCS). Deliveries will take place during the period 2018-2022.

     
  • Saab and FMV sign contract for new Gripen E equipment

    Defence and security company Saab has received a contract from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) regarding new Gripen E equipment. This is a supplemental contract to the previously entered Gripen E contract, and is valued to approximately SEK 400 million.

  • Saab Receives Order for Artillery Ammunition

    Defence and security company Saab has received an order for 155mm explosive training artillery ammunitions. The order value amounts to SEK 118 million and deliveries will take place during 2018 and 2019. The industry’s nature is such that due to circumstances concerning the product and customer, further information about the customer will not be announced.

     
  • Saab receives Support Contract for South African Gripen

    Defence and security company Saab has received a support contract for the South African Gripen weapon system. The order has a total value of SEK 206 million (ZAR 314 million) over the period November 2017 to February 2020. The South African Air Force has been operating the Gripen fighter system since 2008 when the first Gripen was delivered.

  • Saab to Expand Remote Tower Services on the Swedish Market

    Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions has been selected by the Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider, LFV to provide remote digital air traffic control to the airports in Malmö, Östersund, Umeå and Kiruna.
