Although she lived in the UK for 4 years, Adina was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania. Growing up, she enjoyed volunteering at art museums in Bucharest as a tour guide and event organizer. While studying at university, Adina became very interested in space technology and astronomy, and participated in various workshops and training programmes focusing on space science and engineering. In her spare time, she likes going to the movies and having coffee (or newly discovered fika) with friends and family.

Why did you apply to the graduate program?

The structure of the programme was what attracted me the most. The programme is comprehensive and well-balanced because it gives you the chance to both experience Saab as part of a group of people who are in a similar position to you (but with very different roles, backgrounds and expectations) and also experience it as a full-time employee with individual tasks and projects. Other clear reasons are Saab’s status as a high-technology international company and the large variety of products that the company offers. Only in the first weeks of the programme was I struck by how many different domains we cover and how many small projects we lead besides the most popular ones I knew about when applying for this position.

Do you have any tips for someone who is interested in applying for the graduate program?

Although it might sound too simple or cheesy, be true to yourself. If you are looking at this graduate program, it is clear to me that you are interested in working with a great company and with industry-leading technology, which is already a great attribute for any candidate. To make sure this programme is the right fit for you, reach out to previous graduates in the programme and ask questions! When you are completing your application and interviewing for a position, just be yourself! As a fresh graduate immersed in various stressful, never-ending job application processes, don’t feel forced to “put on a show” for a recruiter by saying and doing what you think they expect of you. Let your passion for the company and the role speak for itself.

What is it like to be a graduate at Saab?

Being a graduate at Saab feels very empowering. As a graduate, not only do you get the opportunity to learn a lot about the company and experience all the different parts of Saab yourself during your graduate year, you are also acting as an ambassador for your home department within Saab and as an ambassador for Saab outside the company. Very soon into the program you get the feeling of the strong community within Saab and a sense of belonging, which for me personally is a great motivator.
