Why did you apply to the graduate programme?

For me, self-development, the possibility of having different assignments as well as being important to the company from day one were hygiene factors. What distinguished Saab Graduate Leadership Programme from other job opportunities was mostly the international focus as well as the emphasis on leadership.

Has your image of Saab changed during the programme?

Yes, indeed! I had no idea Saab manufactures such a wide range of products, both for the military and civil sectors. What also surprised me was how much Saab cares about its employees and just how many opportunities there are in the company. I can understand why people work within Saab for such a long time.

What have you accomplished during the programme?

Just as I wanted to, I have had many different assignments during the programme which helped me gather a general understanding of the company and also provided me with greater insight into what I want to do in my career after the programme. For instance, I have been involved in the development of market models; I collected and analysed information about competitors, and clarified roles and responsibilities of departments after a reorganisation. In Thailand, I analysed the Asian market and provided Sales Directors with suggestions on where they could focus their marketing efforts. Also, I performed a benchmark between two different Business Units within Saab to see how they could learn from each other.

What have you gained from participating in the graduate programme?

Very much! The courses and workshops we have had durig the team weeks in presentation skills, conflict management, and etcetera. I have found them to be very valuable.

What has been the most memorable experience so far?

That must be the first team week, when I got to know all the other graduates. When we all first met we were all excited and nervous. After some exercises it felt like I had known those people for ages. That was a fascinating experience.
