We are looking for someone with the ability to improve existing technologies and develop new ones for assembly, in both new and ongoing projects, from early concept studies to complete products. Our main product in the development phase right now is the Gripen fighter. For Gripen, we develop manufacturability and assembly sequences in a 3D-model based computer tool (Delmia). This way of working enables simulations and analysis of the manufacturability of the product at an early stage in the development process.
Your main tasks will include:
- Review engineering documents, drawings, and support design reviews to ensure proper selection and specification of processes for assembly.
- Apply knowledge of assembly operations to develop designs and standard processes that are repeatable, cost effective, environmentally friendly, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements
- Assembly simulations
- Production planning / manufacturing instructions for new and existing products
- Development of new and existing production flows
- Continuous improvement of the production lines
We are looking for someone who have theoretical knowledge equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other theoretical education combined with practical experience of production. You have experience from manufacturing engineering and perhaps experience from aircraft assembly.
As the work is often performed in teams, it is important that you possess good communication skills, and previous leadership experience would be an advantage. This position also involves many contact areas, both internally and externally, which requires a high level of social competence and co-operative skills.
As a person, you are driven, innovative and committed to the work with a desire to learn new things. You are used to working independently and taking initiative. The English language is used extensively, both in our contact with external companies as well as in our technical documents and internal processes.

What you will be a part of
You will be a part of the area Industrializing within department Production. The area comprises 130 employees who in different roles produce production documentation and improve the production system. More specifically you will be a part of the Manufacturing Engineering Assembly section, which currently consists of around 20 competent manufacturing engineers. We work to develop our products buildability so that they can be manufactured with the right quality, at the right pace and in a cost-effective manner. The section for Manufacturing Engineering Assembly is part of Saab Aeronautics.
