Do you have a genuine interest for visualization and/or game development? Then this might be the master thesis for you.
Virtual Reality (VR) has become very big these last years and the technology used is becoming more and more advanced. We think that VR can be used as a complement within flight simulators to supply our users with a simulation setup that with small measures yields a big perception of the simulated environment.
We have performed several master theses within flying in VR. This master thesis aims at bringing eye tracking technology into the midst. How can we use eye tracking to enhance the experience? Measurements of how well the trainee understands instructions? Measuring how long time it takes to complete an instruction and where the focus was? Perhaps use as a tool to enhance objects in the scene?
Expected result is a technical report in English, a prototype in Unity to evaluate eye tracking in VR, tests with both pilots and engineers and a demonstration for a reference group within Saab.
We are looking for an engineering student that is in the last year of a technical education aimed at 3D development. We would very much like to see a genuine interest for visualization and/or game development. Experience with Unity is highly merited.
You are more than welcome to attach your own projects in the application. Observe that you can send us your application in either Swedish or English.
This position requires that you will be approved in a security screening in accordance with the Swedish Protective Security Act.
What you will be a part of
This master thesis will be performed at the department for tactical environment simulation and visualization within flight simulators. The department is located at the business area Aeronautics. The flight simulators for Gripen are used for development, concept studies and advanced training. They are an important piece in the Gripen weapon system.
The flight simulators are used both internally at Saab for development of Gripen, but they are also used by our customers for training flight missions.
Your thesis advisor will be Stefan Furenbäck, if you have questions you can call him at +46 13 183643.
