What you will be part of

Business Unit Training & Simulation develops and manufactures training systems mainly for military users. Our offer is wide ranging and includes the provision of world leading laser simulators for live training, force on target applications, virtual simulation capabilities and training services. Training & Simulation operates globally with 450 employees in twelve different countries.

Your role

At Saab Training & Simulation, we have a product organization, where business’s executed in programs and projects. Saab has established processes supporting the execution, and the Thesis project will be in the process areas of “Execute Business” (EB) and “Manage Project” (MP). We have an organization with highly skilled engineers within a wide range of competences. Traditionally we have managed and executed research and development “In-house”. To meet future expansion of our business we need to explore and learn how to, in an efficient way, manage out- sourced development. The Thesis With Saab’s EB and MP processes as foundation, conduct a study with the aim to outline best practice with in the area. Key success factors shall be clear and also proposed way of implementation. The study shall be based on three sources of knowledge: 1. Research and literature within the area 2. Saab In-house experiences from outsourcing of development 3. Best practice and benchmark, what can be learned from other companies that has been proven successful within the area. As it’s a wide subject with many stakeholders and interfaces, the thesis project will be assigned to two students, who will work with the task as a team. It will also lead to that frames are more closely reviewed and defined, in the initial phase. This will be done in dialog between students, mentor and relevant stakeholders. A mentor will be provided by the company and there will be plenty of peers and stakeholder to support the Thesis Project. It’s required that the students work at Saab’s office in Huskvarna. Workspace and access to information will be provided. As an applicant you will required undertake a background check and a disclosure agreement with Saab.
