One of the latest examples of Saab’s expertise within composites is the fact that Tonny Nyman, specialist in manufacturing processes and simulation in composite, has been appointed as adjunct professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH).

Tonny Nyman has worked at Saab since 1978, mainly on the development side with the design of new aircraft structures, calculation and analysis. He is currently a specialist in manufacturing processes and simulation in composites. In 1999, he also defended his thesis "Fatigue and Residual Strength of Composite Aircraft Structures".
His new research as adjunct professor will focus on the simulation and development of processes for composite manufacturing. The title is "Manufacturing and design of cost-effective composite structures".
"I am very happy and proud of the appointment and I’m really looking forward to starting the work. This means a valuable exchange of expertise for both KTH and Saab,” says Tonny Nyman continuing: “Composites are the future within commercial aviation and this will further strengthen Saab’s skills. It’s also a great opportunity for Saab to increase the level of interest in this area, making it more exciting and ultimately to recruit people with the right key skills”.
The installation will take place during a formal ceremony in November at Stockholm City Hall.
