Defence and security company Saab is participating at Rio +20 – the UN’s environment and climate change conference on sustainable development. In association with the conference Saab is hosting a seminar with the theme "The Attractive City - Efficient, Secure and Sustainable’.
As early as 1937 when Saab was founded, the purpose of creating technology was to protect the citizens of Sweden in a troubled Europe. Today, there are other global challenges such as climate and environmental threats to resolve. Saab's overall technology and knowledge base contribute to energy efficiency and reduced climate impact.
“Saab is not only a leading company in aerospace and defence. Today, we are using 75 years of experience and extensive knowledge to improve society's different flows and thereby contribute to a sustainable society. Our existing knowledge base will have a crucial role in the development of new integrated systems for the application leading to reduced environmental impact,” says Carl-Johan Koivisto, Director, Head of New Business Initiatives, Saab AB and responsible for Saab's Green Tech project.
“I am happy that through representation from the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, we can join in and introduce Saab to Brazil as a major player in Green Tech sector,” says Elisa Sohlman, Executive Director of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Sweden (BHK), who will participate in the seminar.
The seminar is a forum for dialogue with various decision makers and opinion leaders about the future challenges but most of all regarding the solutions for a sustainable society.
