On the 6th November the security and defence company Saab will be welcomed by the Industrial Federation of Rio Grande do Sul providing an excellent opportunity, via a workshop of developing local Industrial links, to foster Innovation & Technology across their entire portfolio of land, air, sea and civil security.
In addition to this workshop and in order to further outline Saab’s intentions of a joint Gripen NG program together with Brazilian industry, Saab investigates the possibilities to involve Brazilian industry with the long term aim to create a joint Swedish – Brazilian program.
A demonstration of this commitment is the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed between Saab and AEL SISTEMAS S/A (AEL) based in Rio Grande do Sul, within the avionics arena. The MoU identifies projects relating to areas of the development, production and long term logistics support of the Gripen NG avionics package.
Saab’s proposal to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) does not only focus on the Gripen NG system but also addresses FAB and Brazilian government requirement for independence. Saab’s proposal is designed to create capabilities in Brazil enabling national autonomy in maintenance, future upgrades, weapons integration as well as in future fighter design, development and operations. This will enable Brazilian companies, such as, AEL to take part in the development program.
